  • Email Verified Terrifying and amazing

I’ll visit Sleepy Hollow again just for the bus ride. It is terrifying as well as amazing. The haunted house also gives some nice scares.

  • Well worth the price

If I could give partial pumpkins, I'd go 4.5 on this out of 5. This is a fairly new haunted attraction, and in some ways that shows. I can't say it's the scariest of haunted attractions, but it was a lot of fun. (Also, a really convenient location for Auburn-dwellers.) Overall, they do an excellent job. In some areas they really shine. There are three things here: The Haunted House, the Haunted Hay Ride, and a Haunted Maze. Each had its own strengths. (Oh, and also a petting zoo. Buy a bag of feed for a dollar and try feeding an alpaca or a camel. It's weird.) I feel like the haunted house needed a little work. For some portions, the main "scare" was poor lighting. I wasn't always sure which way to go. That was more frustrating than scary. A few weak, red lights or some trail markers here and there would have improved this one. There were times when we were being "chased" and couldn't run because it would have been a safety hazard. That was just awkward. "You're really scary, but we can't see where we are going, so we'll just walk away..." There were a decent number of live haunts, but I feel like they could have been more effective with better costuming. The majority seemed like teens in jeans and t-shirts with masks. It's hard to find that scary. They focused on jumping out a yelling as you round corners. That's not to say there weren't a few surprises, but overall, the haunted house was fairly typical. The haunted hayride was fun. It wasn't particularly scary, though the live haunts did some good work at sneaking up behind people from odd angles. But it was a lot of fun. It was actually quite nice taking a ride under the stars. Again, a good number of live haunts. Costumes kind of lacking. Though one younger live haunt portraying "Chucky" had a nice costume and was a lot of fun. Scary? Maybe not. But he was enthusiastic and entertaining. Finally, I've saved the best for last: the corn maze was a lot of fun and the scariest of the three options. I've never done a corn maze, so this was a new experience. They give you a tiny light that is perfect for seeing the ground and where the the maze turns, but not bright enough to spot people hiding in the corn or break the suspense. Some really nice scares hidden throughout. They say the maze should take about 20 minutes, but my wife and I are pretty good puzzle solvers. We were in there between 10 and 15, I'd say. But it was definitely scarier and frankly a lot of fun. Overall, I'd say all the events - even the maze - would be fine for kids with supervision. There's nothing gruesome or gory. I would say this is a great "family" kind of haunt. But for all that, it was a lot of fun for my wife and I by ourselves. Not the scariest, but obviously designed with care by very friendly people. (Oh, the workers were really nice and helpful.) You definitely want to do the haunted corn maze. And given the prices, I'd say do all three and make an evening of it. Even the house, which - as I said - had some flaws, was still fun with some nice surprises. This was a wonderful impromptu date night for my wife. Hope you enjoy it, too.
