Bear Creek Swamp

Many legends and rumors circulate around Bear Creek Swamp, including a variety of ghost stories. Phantom cars are said to speed down the adjacent road and vanish into the darkness late at night, floating orbs of light have been spotted, and some have reported seeing an apparition roughly four feet tall popping out in front of their cars. There have also been sightings of the ghosts of Creek Indians, Civil War soldiers, and early white settlers, as well as a woman looking for her lost child who will attack anyone that say "we have your baby" three times.
In November 2014 the Autauga County Sheriff's Office recovered 21 dolls from a "graveyard" that had been set up in the swamp near County Road 3. The dolls were attached to bamboo stakes floating in the swamp, and appeared to have had their hair painted white to add to their creepy appearance. It is generally assumed that they were placed there as a Halloween prank, but some locals found the sight unsettling nonetheless.

We went as teenagers here for fun because we had heard all the stories! Never again will I go back! We caught orbs and heard strange things! It’s pitch black and eerily silent so you can hear when sounds are out of the normal setting! Definitely felt like we didn’t need to be there or something didn’t want us there!

My teenage children and some of their friends had me drive them to the swamp area. I parked before getting to the bridge and they walked the rest of the way. Once they got to the bridge right in the middle of the swamp they stopped and cut a small recorder on. They were very quiet and a little scared but nothing very interesting happened or so we thought. After going to several other places we got home and listened to the recorder. You could very clearly hear a mans voice whispering "get out of here".

me and my buddies thought it would be funny to say we have your baby and whatnot. About 5 mins after we got done laughing at it off the car shut off and wouldnt turn back on. We heard a woman laughing out in the woods and thought we were done for but the car finally started and we got out of there.
