King-Criswell-Garrett Mansion
Uriah, AL 36480
Located in Monroe County at the intersection of Highway 59 & Orchard Road sits the King-Criswell-Garrett Mansion. The home was built in the late 1850s by Dr. William H. King, the nephew of the only vice president from Alabama, William Rufus King. The mansion features 9,000 square feet of space - making it the largest historic home in the state of Alabama. One of the previous owners, who was not a family member of any of the previous owners, claimed to have been attacked. The owner blamed an unseen entity for her fall through a damaged spot in the attic floor to the foyer floor two stories below. She was seriously injured. In the 2012 episode of “The Dead Files” called “A Widow’s Rage,” the hosts claimed the house was haunted by spirits of former residents.
