Malaga Inn
Mobile, AL 36602
The Malaga Inn consists of what were originally two separate townhouses built by a pair of brothers-in-law for the Goldsmith and Frohlichstein families. Construction on the houses began in 1861 and the homes remained in the family for several decades, but changed hands several times during the 20th century. They were purchases by the current owners' family in the 1960s, at which time the houses were restored and a rear addition was made as the homes were converted into a boutique hotel. Guests have reported seeing the ghost of a woman pacing back and forth on the balcony of Room 007, Others have seen chandeliers swinging for no apparent reason, furniture moving on its own, and lamps being mysteriously unplugged.

Laying bed, kept on waking up at odd hours of the night to hearing footsteps outside my door and window. My door and window both face the courtyard. When I got up and to see who’s out there, there was no one insight. So I stood there and waited and listened for anything but still nothing. So after a while I went back to bed and didn’t hear anything else rest of the night.

Nice room bottom floor. First thing I noticed was my bed was off kilter. I straightened it up. Had to plug in the lamps and just figured they had been unplugged to charge phones by a previous tenant. Went out to eat and upon return saw my husbands bed had been moved off kilter. When first going to sleep I was on top of covers. Noticed my legs getting icy icy cold where as the rest of me was toasty. Ghost? Maybe. All I know is that I slept like a baby so thanks to the spirits for not disturbing us and sharing their space with us! Would definitely stay here again.

My sister and I stayed at the Malaga Inn in summer, 1995 - we had checked in to the Holiday Inn but when we saw it we decided it looked more interesting and stayed here instead. We got an upstairs room at the front of the hotel (I want to say it was the far left room on the left half of the hotel if you are facing the hotel). We had a great dinner and spent time out on the balcony enjoying the evening. In the middle of the night, I was awakened by my sister screaming bloody murder because someone had crawled into bed with her, and even worse when she realized there was no one there! The next day we asked the front desk about it and apparently the room we were in was one with "activity" - which we got for no extra charge! BTW, this was well before ghost hunting was so common place and we literally knew nothing about this hotel, we just thought it was cool. I think we paid $35 a night!
