The Redmont Hotel is the oldest active hotel in Birmingham, having first opened in 1925 as a 200-room hotel with the then-unusual amenities of private baths in each room and water-cooled ceiling fans. It was purchases by hotel magnate Clifford Stiles in 1946, who a year later converted the top floor into a penthouse apartment for his family. It was later purchased by an investment group made up of NBA players during the 1980s, and in 2014 an upgrade project was initiated to turn it into an fully updated upscale hotel.

Guests at the Redmont have reported some unusual incidents, including doors that open and close themselves and furniture or baggage moving around of its own accord. A ghostly woman in white has been spotted on the ninth floor, and the apparition of a small dog is sometimes seen roaming the hallways. Mr. Stiles' spirit has also been reported to haunt the hotel and, most famously, some say that the ghost of Hank Williams has haunted the building since he died there in 1952.

Burlesque vibe

I had no idea of the history of the hotel when we booked here. As soon as we checked into the king suite on the 8th floor, I felt "stripper" vibes. I told my husband it felt like Burlesque. The next day, his watch jumped off the dresser onto the floor. It did not fall; I was right there and it JUMPED. Later we found out the hotel was built next door to the red room, a burlesque bar.
Overall, I felt a thick, heavy vibe, especially in the hallways and elevators. The layout of our room was super weird, and I had bad dreams the night we stayed there.

Ghost dog

My wife and I stayed here when our son was at Children's hospital. I opened my room door and seen a dog but when I went on out in the hall it was gone. I plan on going back this summer to see if I can communicate with anyone.

The spirit of Hank Sr

At our recent stay at the Redmont, we communicated with a spirit that claimed to be the one and only Hank Sr. Maybe this wasn’t were he died but, he might have went back there because that was one of the last places he was happy and alive!

hank William's didn't die here

Hank spent the first night of his last ride at the Redmond, having wanted to stay at the Tutwiler, his driver..a 16 year old student did a u turn and a Birmingham cop ordered them away so the Redmont it was. Hank was alive and seemingly well when they left Birmingham. They spent the next night at a hotel in Knoxville TN, Hank being wheeled out in a wheelchair after some injections from a so called doctor. according to Charles, hank spoke and sang along to the song midnight as they drove along and eventually said he was going to take a nap. when Charles noticed hanks blanket had fallen in the floor board he reached back and felt.that hank was ice cold. he stopped at a service station in oak hill, WV for help and was led to the local hospital where Hank was pronounced dead. 2 days after his stay at the Redmont.

Hank haunts

The article is wrong. It states hank died here. He did not, he died in his car on the way to a show in Virginia. They tell you about in the museum. Maybe it's haunted by other people or things. But I do not believe it's Hank.
