First built in 1852, the Battle House Hotel stands on what were once the military headquarters of Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812. In 1905 the hotel burned to the ground, but three years later it was replaced with a brand new building; it would later closer in 1974, but reopened in 2007 following a massive revitalization project. Visitors can once again spend the night in the old hotel, but they may find that they are not alone! Guests have reported hearing disembodied voices, seeing shadowy apparitions, and witnessing faucets turn on and off by themselves.
