JD Holman House
Ozark, AL 36360
Built for Jesse DeCosta Holman in 1912, the JD Holman House in Ozark is said to be haunted by the spirit of a young boy who has shown up in photographs taken near the top of the staircase. He is dressed in early 20th century clothing, and may be responsible for phantom footsteps and disembodied whispers which have also been reported in the home. It is also rumored that one of the house's earliest occupants was jerked from his crib as a child and rushed into a rainstorm by a maid who claimed that if the baby received the first May rain he would live a long and healthy life. The man was said to still be in good health well past his 80th birthday. The house was purchased by the City of Ozark n 2013 and is now managed by the Ozark Heritage Association, which rents the historic home for weddings and other gatherings.
